As part of Diabetes Awareness Month the Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing has held a special event. The lobby hosted healthcare professionals on site with demonstrations, on-site screenings, diet suggestions along with samples and other resources. HSN says diabetes is more common in the Northeast, so this month is especially important. Coordinator of the Kapuskasing Diabetes Centre, Sylvie Charptentier (shahr-pon-tee-ay) says HSN is making diabetes more manageable. She says there are always workshops going on held by Health Sciences North and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
