ILLEGAL SHOOTING IN MOONBEAM

Rene Brunelle Provincial Park may have been the site for illegal use of firearms.  Gilbert Peters, a volunteer who helps maintain the many trails says someone has been entering the park and shooting up signs.   He says there has been one or two minor problems in the past but never as severe as this one.   Peters says it’s not the noise; it’s the added danger of firearms being shot near the trails which are used by residents year round.  He says the trails are maintained by volunteers and funding will have to be found before winter to restore the bullet riddled signs.  Local residents are also concerned that high powered rifle bullets could be flying near their homes and children.  Peters says he’s hoping to get police and the game warden from the park involved.
