There’s more to the Iroquois Falls group called the Pay it Forward Christmas Blessings Campaign than gift vouchers for people who might be overlooked.
Member Tina Turner says they started “memory balls” two years ago. They’re Christmas tree ornaments that Christina Demers helps with.
“We purchase the plastic balls,” says Turner. “She basically fills them with tinsel and then she puts the name of the person on there.”
It started with seven balls. Turner says this year, one will be delivered to everyone in the Falls who has lost a loved one this year. She calls that “heartwarming”.
“It’s always emotional because there’s tears that are shed and the families who’ve lost their loved one, now feel like we have not forgotten.”
