Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is dead against a Liberal proposal to double the land transfer tax. Fedeli says the Liberals are thinking about giving all municipalities the power to nail people with a local land transfer tax when buying a home. Right now we pay the province this tax but the proposed legislation would see us also handing money over to our municipality. Fedeli says this new tax could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back when it comes to home ownership.
