Financial restructuring plan for Rockshield gains court approval

Cochrane’s Rockshield hardwood core plywood mill has achieved Ontario Superior Court approval for its financial restructuring plan.

Rockshield cited cash flow problems and seasonal inventory fluctuations for going into restructuring in July. Moving forward, CEO Tom Scott says the biggest challenge is adding jobs in order to meet the mill’s production potential, once it’s fully out of creditor protection. He says the nation-wide labour shortage is a complication.

Rockshield claims “economic activity and income generation” for 200 people, including mill employees.
