The OPP say it’s received a rise in vehicle theft calls from Iroquois Falls through Hearst.  Staff Sergeant Baldassare Nuccio from the Kapuskasing OPP says the Lock it or Lose it campaign aims to address the issue.  Nuccio says often thefts from vehicles are crimes of opportunity which can be avoided by following some simple safety rules, like removing all valuables from vehicles, not leaving keys inside the car, and keeping the vehicle locked.  The OPP says a professional can steal a vehicle in 30 seconds, even without your keys so it’s important for residents to keep their vehicles as secure as possible.
