‘The Big Three’ programs are up and running at the Cochrane Public Library

The newly installed program services coordinator at the Cochrane Public Library has already launched what she calls “the big three“.

Top of the list is Eco Buddies, Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 for kids seven to 15.

Hillary Meaden says the program goes outdoors whenever possible.

“We focus on ecology, environmentalism and nature, in order to demonstrate to kids how we can all save the planet, one step at a time,” she says, adding that the program aims to get beyond thinking that climate change is too scary or difficult to talk about.

“They’re inheriting this Earth that we have and I want them to be part of it and learn about it and how they can, one step at a time, save it or at least work towards it.”

Also on offer are the Thursday Tech Social, helping you get the most out of your electronic devices; and Discover with Julie, for parents and kids aged two to six.  It explores library books about the world around us.

More details are on the library’s website and Facebook page.
