Communications top priority of new I.F. mayor

The top item on the to-do list for the new mayor of Iroquois Falls is improving communications with the people of the town. Fifteen-year council veteran Tory Delaurier was acclaimed yesterday to complete the term of Pat Britton, who resigned for health reasons last week.

Delaurier has been acting mayor over the summer. He says he’s been working with the new CAO and staff.

“We built a really good team over the last two months and we just want to get our communication out better.” …That includes live-streaming council meetings so the community knows what’s happening and be part of the forward movement.

He has also asked councillors for a priority list of issues.

“Communication will be up there, the Official Plan, the uploaded highways,” Delaurier notes. “There’s about 20 things that our council asked for, but we’re going to narrow that list down a little bit more and give timeframes.”

Delaurier says he’ll decide in the spring whether to run for the mayoralty in next October’s election.

Bersides coming off 15 years as a councillor, Delaurier has been general manager for the past 21 years of The Enterprise weekly newspaper. He intends to keep that job.
