The Kansas City Royals were crowned World Series champions last night. Kansas City beat the New York Mets 7-2 in 12 innings to win their first league title since 1985.

The Edmonton Eskimos clinched first place overall in the CFL  with a 40-22 victory over the Montreal Alouettes yesterday. The Als were officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Meanwhile the Ottawa Redblacks moved into first place in the CFL East Division with a 12-6 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In NFL action yesterday New Orleans beat the Giants 52-49, Seattle edged Dallas 13-12 and Peyton Manning tied Brett Favre’s NFL record with his 186th regular-season win as the Denver Broncos beat the  Green Bay Packers 29-10 in the late game.

The Montreal Canadiens got back in the win column with a 5-1 pounding of the Winnipeg Jets last night
