SPRING BEAR HUNT

Ontario may be expanding its black bear hunt into the spring.  The MNR says the province is putting forth a plan to expand the hunt based on the amount of human interactions, its sustainable population and to increase tourism.  The province says the spring bear hunt pilot program could run through until 2020 for all 88 wildlife management units that currently hold a fall hunt.  Under the proposed plan it will still be illegal to hunt cubs and females with cubs, failure to do so would mean criminal charges and fines of up to $25,000.
