For the second consecutive August, Darcy Cybolsky of Iroquois Falls is putting 300 km on his bicycle, to raise money for research into childhood cancer at Sick Kids Hospital. He’s doing it as part of the Great Cycle Challenge.
The 36-year-old reporter has never been touched personally by the disease, but has written stories about families who have.
“I have four kids, right?” he states. “God forbid it ever happens to us. It’s something that I would never want to go through. I can’t imagine going through that and to see the strength of the people that do go through that, it’s crazy.”
Cybolsky’s online pledge page is here, if you want to contribute.
“They don’t have to sponsor me specifically,” he points out. “It all goes towards the same pool. You can check out greatcyclechallenge.ca and sponsor anybody and it all goes to the same pool.”
Today only, a rich family named Garon is matching all pledges up to a million dollars.
Cybolsky, who is more of a runner than a cyclist, says the ride is an easy thing to do for a great cause.
