The Cochrane Public Library is one of 15 libraries in the province nominated in the Ontario Public Library Service Awards. Its afterschool program, The Next Chapter, which aims to develop literacy and creativity in children, aged seven to 13. The Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport says the program is innovative and is a fresh take on what a library stands for, life-long learning. The award is given out for libraries that have a positive impact on the community, and are committed to excellence.
