It`s time to participate in the 2021 Census of Canada.
Stats Can Ontario Regional Director Nancy Guardino says the letter you got in the mail has an online access code that allows you to complete either the short or long survey. She adds that it`s really important for us to fill out the information as soon as possible.
“Think about planning for schools, planning for daycare, indigenous training programs maybe community centres,” she said. “Your local municipalities will use this data for that decision making. That`s why it`s so important that everyone counts themselves in.”
The Census had to pivot this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of having census workers coming to your door, the info is being gathered online.
Guardino says Census staff will follow up with phone calls to make sure you have completed the survey. She adds that Census staff may also pay a visit to your home if there is further delay, but making sure all public health protocols are follows.
