COVID-19 situation ‘critical’ in Iroquois Falls

Iroquois Falls is in critical condition when it comes to COVID-19. So says Mayor Pat Britton, relaying the wording used by Dr. Lianne Catton.

In an online address to his town Tuesday night, the mayor says he participated in a video conference call with the region’s medical officer of health, at her request.

Britton says he asked how many cases are active in the Falls, but Catton couldn’t answer him due to regulations.  She did, however, tell him it’s “way over 25”.  The town’s population is about 4,500.

Two elementary schools and a high school in Iroquois Falls are the scenes of outbreaks.  Britton’s urging parents to convince their children to stay home.  If they’re outdoors exercising, he says they must wear masks and maintain physical distance.
