Two outbreaks, vaccination eligibility expanded for some people

Six COVID-19 cases are split evenly between St. Anne’s English Catholic School in Iroquois Falls and Glencore’s Kidd Mine in Timmins.  The health unit considers each site the location of an outbreak.

Meanwhile, vaccination eligibility is being extended to anyone 18 or over dealing with a chronic medical condition.  One caregiver can also be inoculated.

The list of highest and high-risk medical conditions includes:

  • Organ transplant recipient;
  • Hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipient;
  • Neurological diseases in which respiratory function may be compromised like MS;
  • Haematological malignancy diagnosed <1 year;
  • Kidney disease eGFR< 30; • Obesity (BMI > 40);
  • Treatments causing immunosuppression like Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, active chemotherapy;
  • Intellectual or developmental disabilities like Down Syndrome.
