Yard sales not allowed during provincial restrictions of stay-at-home order

As much as you’d like to have a yard or garage sale to get rid of everything you’ve accumulated during the pandemic, right now, it’s against the law.

Cochrane’s protective services director, Richard Vallée says that’s in effect during the current provincial stay-at-home order.

“As long as people follow the directive to do the social distancing and proper masking and stuff, then there’ll be no issues holding garage sales,” he says.

Having sanitizer handy is a good idea, too.

Vallée even has a suggested alternative. “We’ve seen lately that a lot of people are using the virtual garage sale as a way of selling items they have at home,” he observes. “I find it’s a good way of achieving – not as bag as a garage sale – but at least selling items.”
