Why I.F. Community Centre chosen for vaccination clinics over complex hall

The Porcupine Health Unit is defending its selection of the Iroquois Falls Community Centre for its COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

Some people are dissatisfied with the former Local 90 Hall due to accessibility issues. They say the hall at the fitness complex would be better, because of its elevator.

PHU chief nursing officer Chantal Riopel says both locations and others were considered.  Criteria include location and size of the facility, its layout, available parking, and accessibility.  The committee opted to go with the community centre.

Riopel adds that the centre has a ramp and there’s a wheelchair available there.
