OPP solve rash of break-ins at Watabeag

If you’ve been ripped off of your belongings at your cottage at Watabeag Lake over the past several months, provincial police probably have it now.

They arrested a suspect in an in-progress break-in last Thursday in that area.  When they searched his home in Otto Township, they found $130,000.00 of property that was reported stolen.

Here are the charges laid against the 36-year-old man:

  • Break and Enter, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC) (10 Counts),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC (Six Counts),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC (Four Counts),
  • Mischief Over $5,000, contrary to section 430(3) of the CC,
  • Mischief Under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC,
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC (Two Counts),
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC (Two Counts),
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 333.1 of the CC(Two Counts) ,
  • Theft Over $500, contrary to section 334(a) of the CC
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC (Two Counts)
