The pandemic lockdown is over, and so is the closure of the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat and the snowmobile museum on its grounds.

Cochrane Vintage Riders Snowmobile Club executive member Dan Girard says they both open at 10:00am Saturday.

The museum faced extinction while a new organization was trying to assume Habitat management from Town Hall.

“Obviously our lobbying helped,” Girard states, “because the town wasn’t going to sell us out. That new board didn’t want to have the heritage village or the snowmobile museum. They just wanted to run the bears.”

He adds that the Habitat and the museum will be open seven days a week.

“It’s back to business as usual. People can view the snowmobile museum only if they don’t want to go and see the polar bears.”
