UPDATE AT 3:30pm: Exposure to pre-existing cases of COVID-19 is blamed for the six latest cases by the Porcupine Health Unit. Two of them are in the Hearst-Hornepayne corridor, and the other four in one or more coastal communities. The total number of cases so far in the pandemic in the region is 336.

One piece of very good COVID-19 news and one hopeful piece from the Porcupine Health Unit in the past 24 hours.

Late yesterday afternoon, it and Extendicare Kapuskasing announced the end of the outbreak at the long-term care home.  It has been two weeks since any resident or staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.  The outbreak was declared January 6th and saw the deaths of 15 residents.

The hopeful sign is that there are no new cases to report anywhere in the region today. There have been 330 since the pandemic arrived.
