Potential COVID-19 exposure at hardware store in Moosonee

The Porcupine Health Unit has not identified exactly where ten new cases of COVID-19 on the weekend are.  All it says is the cases are all on the James or Hudson Bay coast.

The Town of Moosonee confirms that they’re all in that community.

However, the health unit is saying that from its investigation into the cases, it has determined that anyone who was at GG’s Ace Hardware in Moosonee between February 11th and 19th has potentially been exposed to the virus.

Anyone at the store during that period is being told to self-monitor for 14 days after being there.  That period expires between this coming Thursday and the following Friday, March 5th.

In a Facebook post, the store says three of its staff members have tested positive.  The Moosonee store is closed until further notice, but the Moose Factory store is open.

The total number of cases in PHU territory so far is 324.

EDITOR’S NOTE: An earlier version of this story says the store affected is in Moose Factory.  It is, in fact, the GG’s Ace Hardware in Moosonee that’s affected. We apologize for the error.
