The 56-bed Extendicare Kapuskasing has suffered its 16th COVID-19 death.
In a statement, Porcupine Health Unit medical officer of health Dr. Lianne Catton says it “reinforces the reality of COVID-19 in our communities”.
So even as we move out of lockdown and into orange-level restrictions on Tuesday, she urges continuation of all safety protocols.
“This loss further reinforces the reality of COVID-19 in our communities and I urge individuals to do everything they can to prevent its spread, recognizing that many are at higher risk from the virus. Stay home as much as possible, avoid contact with vulnerable individuals, wear a mask and practice physical distancing.”
