With 13 new cases confirmed late yesterday Thursday, the COVID-19 number in Porcupine Health Unit territory has hit 254. There’s also been another death – the fourth at Extendicare Kapuskasing and 14th overall for the region.
Nine of the 13 new cases are part of that outbreak. Extendicare says it currently has 35 active cases among its residents and eight among staff members.
The other four new cases are in the area of Hearst and Hornepayne. Two are blamed on contact with existing cases. The only confirmed cases in that area are at the Constance Lake First Nation. The origin of the final two cases is being investigated.
