Puska, MyCochraneNow.com staff)The MPP for Mushkegowuk-James Bay is asking Ontario’s long-term care minister to send in the Red Cross or the military, to help the COVID-19-plagued Extendicare Kapuskasing. In a letter to Merrilee Fullerton, New Democrat Guy Bourgoin says supports are needed at the long-term care home, because staff is overwhelmed. As of Wednesday, 14 residents and five staff members had tested positive for coronavirus.Bourgoin calls the situation “a perfect cocktail for a tragedy”, due in part to chronic underfunding and limited health care staff and resources. He tells the minister that the Red Cross has told him it’s ready to move in, as soon as it’s asked by the government.Guy Bourgoin, MPP Mushkegowuk-James Bay (NDP)(Photo submitted)
