NEW DOCTORS FOR THE NORTH

FONOM’s has been asking for more residency positions in northern Ontario hospitals and the province has responded.  The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care says five new residency positions will be opening up in 2016, affecting hospitals in Cochrane, Smooth Rock Falls and Kapuskasing.  The President of FONOM, Alan Spacek says it’s all in the spirit of increasing access to primary health care for northerners.  There are currently two residency positions being filled and four third-year students from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine working at the Sensenbrenner Hospital.
