Curfew wouldn’t be effective in Cochrane: Mayor Denis Clement

Only Premier Doug Ford knows if he’ll impose a curfew on Ontario on Tuesday.

Cochrane mayor Denis Clement says such a move could be effective in larger communities at stemming the spread of COVID-19, but not in his town.  He notes that Cochrane doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to gather at nighttime during the lockdown.

“Would it be eight o’clock? Six o’clock? Probably similar to the one in Quebec, eight to five in the morning. How effective it would be in our community is up for debate,” the mayor states.

“I think what’s more important for us would be the inter-regional travel. That’s what would be more effective to us, to curtail the inter-regional travel where possible.”
