Iroquois Falls telethon: ‘Awesome. No mess, no fuss and people loved it’

It was a telethon the likes of which Iroquois Falls has never seen.

Saturday night’s event for the Bill Harkins-Eugene Ricard Santa Claus was a livestream only… and is considered a big success.

“Very different but you know, I enjoyed it and I liked it,” says Santa Claus Fund chairman Don Beagan, praising the workers, the hosts and the entertainers who recorded their segments ahead of time.

“Awesome. No mess, no fuss and people loved it,” he remarks.

When the show ended at about 9:30pm, there was $11,000 pledged.  Beagan says money will still come in for a couple days.  On top of that, pledges honoured through PayPal and e-transfer have to be reconciled with the rest.

“We don’t know what’s there right now, but we will post it, let everybody know,” he promises.

Because of the pandemic and problems with the local community TV channel, the telethon was entirely livestreamed.  You can watch it on Youtube.
