I.F. Telethon moves to online world

A livestream with recorded entertainment is the way the Christmas telethon in Iroquois Falls will go this year.

The need for the Bill Harkins-Eugene Ricard Santa Claus Fund to help Iroquois Falls families at Christmas has probably never been greater than this year.

The community auditorium isn’t available due to crowd size restrictions.  Fund secretary Rick Charlebois says the committee discussed not having a telethon, but stopped short of that with a plan B: A livestream hosted by Bob McIntyre, with recorded entertainment.

“We are going to try requesting performers, not just from Iroquois Falls but former residents and so on to send in little performances of some kind,” he says. “Record it and send it to us.”

Charlebois says submissions of entertained are being accepted until the day of the telethon – Saturday, November 21st, but the sooner the better.

And donations to help feed needy families at Christmas will be taken by telephone.

“There will be pledge lines,” Charlebois notes. “There will be volunteers on site to take their pledges throughout the day.”

The exact hours are yet to be nailed down.
