The stretch of clean days of COVID-19 in the Porcupine Health Unit territory ended this morning.
A 71st case of the coronavirus was announced and there is a first attached to this one. It’s the Hearst-Hornepayne area’s first confirmed case, a female between 10 and 19 who is a staff member at Foyer Des Pionniers Nursing Home in Hearst. The person is without symptoms and tested positive.
She is in isolation at home, and the investigation is ongoing. The Health Unit says that all infection prevention measures have been followed at the nursing home.
The facility has continued to test all staff for COVID-19 regularly as part of the enhanced surveillance taking place in the long-term care facilities.
