20-year student of herbalism trying to establish a community in Iroquois Falls

Chantal Gagné has returned to the town where she grew up – Iroquois Falls – and is spreading her knowledge of herbalism.

That’s a connection between humans and plants, and is practiced by cultures around he world.

“Essentially being a herbalist is becoming a bridge for the plants and humans,” she explains, “and so we come to know these plants on a lot of different levels and then we share that with our community members.”

Gagné has a nursing degree, and says she’s been studying plant medicine for 20 years.  She says other principal uses are food and clothing.

Gagné says she felt a calling the establish a herbal community in the Falls, and share that knowledge of plants, which she says are sentient beings.

“How to communicate, how to connect with plants, and then learning how to approach them for various purposes.”

Gagné’s in week two of step one, running an outdoor class once a week.  She hopes to continue doing that, as members of that class move on to further classes she’ll offer.  Details here.
