Library asks patrons to hold off on book, DVD donations until after pandemic

It’s not that the Cochrane Public Library doesn’t appreciate donations of books and DVDs, but it’s asking patrons to stop leaving them in the book drop.

Assistant to the CEO Ardis Proulx-Chedore says it’s not possible right now to process and sanitize them, when they get mixed in with material that’s picked up curbside and returned in the drop.

“We’re trying to eliminate mix-ups and a lot of confusion by not taking donations at this time,” she tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com. “We do ask the public to hold on to their donations of material and we will gladly notify everyone once we’re able to take them again.”

Proulx-Chedore says library staff is currently focussing on providing material requested for curbside pick-up.
