Ticket sales explode for Cochrane Lions Club’s Catch the Ace draw

There’s obviously been a lot of pent-up enthusiasm in Cochrane the past few months, for the Lions Club’s Catch the Ace lottery.

It’s finally back next Saturday, July 11th , for the final draw in the series that was suspended when we all went into lockdown.

Draw chairman Peter Politis says typically, about a thousand tickets are sold in the last few days before the draw.  This time, tickets sold out in a matter of hours, so another batch was brought in. And they started selling like proverbial hotcakes.

“Some of the depots told us it was like a rock concert,” Politis says with a chuckle.  “People were waiting at 6:30 in the morning to get their tickets.”

“They’re starting to go fast again. So people, if they’re thinking of buying tickets, they need to get on it as fast as they can.”

Cards will be drawn until the ace of spades turns up.  Whoever’s holding it could win close to $25,000.
