COVID-19 dragon can’t slay Cochrane library’s TD Summer Reading Club

It takes more than a dragon named Pandemic to kill the TD Summer Reading Club at the Cochrane Public Library.  The worst that COVID-19 can do to it is to send it online.

Ardis Proulx-Chedore, assistant to the library CEO, says this is the tenth year, and the first time it hasn’t been done at the library itself.

“We’ll be using Youtube and Facebook Live and Zoom to interact with the kids and get them reading and doing some fun activities,” she tells us.

Sponsorship by the Cochrane Lions Club means the library can offer at no charge, kits with crafts and activities for reading club members to do. The kit and the books you want to read can be picked up curbside at the library.

“Everyone who participates in the TD Summer Reading Club has the chance to win a brand new bicycle,” Proulx-Chedore says, with more than just a little excitement in her voice.  “Then on top of that, we have weekly prizes for different kinds of things.  Everything for all ages between zero and 16.”

You can register on the library’s website or by calling the library at 705-272-4178.
