Polar Bear Express back on track June 25

The conductor’s cry of “All aboard the Polar Bear Express” returns to train platforms in Cochrane and Moosonee on Thursday, July 25th.

The passenger service had been taken off the tracks early in the COVID-19 pandemic.  It will run Mondays and Thursday, with the following restrictions in place

o All passengers and employees will be required to wear a face covering when boarding or moving through the coach (except when seated in their assigned seat). Children under the age of two and people with difficulty breathing unrelated to COVID-19 should not use face coverings.

o The dining car will not be in service and passengers will not be able to move from car to car.

o Passengers will be screened prior to boarding which consists of speaking with an Ontario Northland employee to answer a questionnaire.

o The passenger cars have enhanced cleaning protocols including intense cleaning after use. Additionally, an anti-microbial spray has been applied to all passenger coaches.

o The number of seats available per coach will be limited to ensure physical distancing.
