Bubbles remain unexpanded, hugging grandchildren not yet advised

To the chagrin of grandparents across our region, phase two of reopening Ontario does not include expanding our bubbles.  So hugging grandchildren is not yet advised.

The medical officer of health for the Porcupine Health Unit, Dr. Lianne Catton, says it’s been discussed by public health officials across Ontario.  She’s still awaiting guidance on when bubble expansion is okay.

“But at this point in time, the recommendation remains that for those outside of who you’re living with within your household, that we maintain that physical distancing,” she says.

Catton is also issuing words of caution, as we approach Friday and the relaxation of several COVID-19 measures.

She says she can’t emphasize enough that our collective work is not over.

“COVID-19 is not done.  We all must continue to maintain our commitment to the important steps individually and together as workplaces, businesses and communities, to ensure the steps and precautions are in place and that we are all following them.”
