Cochrane council abandons COVID-19 financial relief measures to residents

It’s the end of the line for relief from financial penalites from Cochrane Town Hall.

Council has decided that effective last Monday, June 1st, it will charge interest and penalty charges on overdue accounts.  User fees – which were supposed to increase on April 1st – also went up on June 1st.

Water and sewer charges, however, will only go up on August 1st. They too were originally scheduled for April.

Council says it decided to suspend the relief measures because businesses have begun to reopen, and other financial relief is available.
