Too early to expand our bubbles

Lianne Catton knows that we’re all tired and lonely from isolating ourselves and are excited to at least “expand our bubbles”.  That’s the concept of allowing your household to mix and visit with one other household.

But the medical officer of health for the Porcupine Health Unit says it’s too soon in the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The recommendation remains to be visiting within your household members and to maintain physical distancing of two metres from others,” she says, “and to really, really stay the course as much as possible.”

Dr. Catton says the final call on when we can expand our bubbles will come from the chief provincial health officer, Dr. David Williams.

“There are discussions looking to when this may be and it may be that this happens over the next couple of weeks, but I think we’re too early yet for that to happen.”
