Cochrane Public Library joins others with pick-up service during pandemic

It’s the way of the pandemic: Picking up books from the public library without having to go inside.

The Cochrane Public Library started its twice-a-week pick-up service on Thursday.

Ardis Proulx-Chedore, assistant to the CEO, says you order your books, audiobooks or DVDs online, via email or telephone.  They’ll be left on a table inside the foyer, clearly marked with your name on them.

“All you have to do: Come in, person at a time in the foyer; you sanitize your hands, open the door, take the material with your name on it and then leave the building,” she instructs.

You can return the materials in the usual drop box, but Proulx-Chedore says not to use plastic bags.  They’re too hard to clean and go into the garbage anyway.

“So it’s just easier to just put the materials straight into the drop box and only library material, not donation,” says Proulx-Chedore. “So if you have any donations, we’re not accepting them at this time, just library material.”

Everything available to borrow is in an online catalogue at the library’s website.

Pick-up times are Tuesday and Thursday between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
