Most of Northern Ontario depends on mining and forestry for its primary industries – but agriculture is also a big contributor. That’s why the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation is funding eight farming projects across the north with six million dollars. Three farming agencies in the northwest are each getting one million dollars while one in the Sturgeon Falls region receives 1.3 million dollars. West Nipissing – East Sudbury Agricultural Support Projects will use the money to clear 23-hundred acres of land and put in a tile drainage system.
