Iroquois Falls Mayor Pat Britton is wondering about the motivation behind removing warning signs from Anson Park.. and the Devonshire and Montrock playgrounds. The signs declare the spaces off-limits because of potential spread of COVID-19.
Britton says they were first noticed missing Tuesday morning. Spare signs were put up, but they, too were gone Wednesday morning.
”We’ve got to send a message here,” the mayor remarks. “These things are put out to protect the public and again if somebody’s got total disregard for children, adults, teenagers, going in and remove signs like that, I have a real problem with it and I think the rest of the public would also.”
“I’m not very happy. Those signs were put up to protect the public and the kids and they were removed.”
The mayor is hopeful an OPP investigation tracks down whoever removed the signs, so they can be held criminally responsible.
