The mayor of Cochrane says most members of the community are pulling together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. But Denis Clement echoes the concerns of the staff a the Ininew Friendship Centre.
“When you go out for a walk in in the evening and go around and there’s still teenagers gathering with eight, ten, 12 kids playing basketball on the street, that’s a bit alarming,” he comments. “But again, it’s a different situation and as this thing continues, I believe people will be taking it more and more seriously.”

The mayor urges townspeople to listen to the messaging from the Porcupine Health Unit, which he calls very clear and concise.
“Do not gather in crowds. Go out only if absolutely necessary and if you’re not feeling well or you’re unwell, stay home if you can.”
