Going online to provide Sunday service

Churches are among the places ordered closed under the province’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

That doesn’t stop Pastor Bob Cox of New Hope Community Church in Cochrane from conducting a Sunday morning service.

“Welcome to the first live service on Facebook Live that we’ve ever done here at New Hope Commuunity,” he said at the beginning of yesterday’s online service.

It featured the pastor delivering a devotional and playing music as part of a five-piece band.

“We’re trying to maintain social distancing, but just so you know, don’t try to come to the church,” he told viewers, “because the doors are locked and we are just observing and trying to obey our government’s requirements in that sense.”

During the coronavirus emergency, Pastor Cox is inviting everyone to join in any or all of a one-hour virtual prayer meeting, every morning at eight o’clock.  It won’t be broadcast or live streamed, but the invitation to participate from your home is out there.
