The start of March Break every year in Iroquois Falls coincides with the start of the annual winter carnival.
Perennial chairman Tory Delaurier says it launches with an opening ceremony, Friday at 6:00pm.
“We have a bonfire, maze and a skating oval and the fireworks are that night, too,” he says. “That happens behind the bowling alley at the main ball park.”
There’ll be free coffee and hot chocolate for everyone.

On Saturday, there are two big events at the community centre formerly known as Local 90 and Access Transit Hall.
Delaurier says during the day, there is an arm wrestling tournament for kids four to 17.
Then at night for the adults, country acts Jamie Warren and Johnson’s Creek, with local opening acts.
“Mearl and the Flows and Sabrina and Dave and the Fam Jam,” says Delaurier. “Doors open at 6:30, it starts at 7:00. The bands go right on at 7:00.”
The carnival continues all week, with the finale on Sunday the 22nd – the demolition derby in the snow dump on the south end of d’Iberville Avenue.
