Mashup of poetry and art returns to gallery at Cochrane Public Library

For the fourth straight year, the Cochrane Public Library is combining visual art with poetry to mark Poetry Month in April.  It’s called “Po-Art-Try”.

Program coordinator Ardis Proulx-Chedore says the visual art could be a drawing, a painting, a multi-media piece or photography.

“The theme this year is ‘Things I Was Taught’, so it’s pretty broad,” she remarks.  “It leaves it wide open for people to be able to interpret that however they want and create some masterful art pieces.”

“Whatever piece of artwork that you create, you would also accompany it with a poem.  And the poem has to be original work.  If you don’t feel comfortable doing that yourself, you can group up with people because there are categories for people to do it in teams.”

The deadline is March 25th.  The month-long display opens April 3rd in the gallery at the library.  Full details are on its Facebook page.
