More snowmobile safety warnings

The Temiskaming OPP is warning sledders to be cautious on the heels of the fourth snowmobile death in the North this season. There have also been more than 20 crashes, which police say speed and alcohol are generally contributing factors. Some safety tips they give are to always wear a proper helmet and tell someone where you’re going. They also say they have seen sleds break through the ice on water ways which can be fatal. If you’re going to be on frozen water, wear a buoyant snow suit and always carry ice picks.
