Crunch moves 50 km down Hwy. 11 for one game

Hockey fans in Iroquois Falls have a chance Fri., Jan. 17 to see a junior-A hockey game, without travelling a half-hour to Cochrane or 45 minutes to Timmins.

Because of a scheduling conflict with a men’s league tournament, the Cochrane Crunch game against the French River Rapids is being moved to the Jus Jordan Arena.

“In the past, we’ve done a game in Iroquois Falls each year and a game in Smooth Rock Falls,” says Crunch owner, coach and GM Ryan Leonard.  “This year in our regular season schedule, we kept everything in Cochrane and this just gives us an opportunity now to have one game outside in the region.”

Leonard welcomes the chance to play a home game out in the region.

“Seven o’clock game time and it’s going to be two teams that are battling for playoffs so it should be a good, exciting game for sure.”

Currently, Cochrane is in fourth place in the NOJHL East Division with 36 points.  The Rapids are in fifth with 25 points.
