Community Café changes venue, looks for entertainers

There’s a change of venue for the latest Community Café organized by the Cochrane Public Library.

It’s set for next Wednesday, January 15th from 6:00pm until 8:30pm.  But program coordinator Ardis Proulx-Chedore says instead of the Commando Pavilion, it’ll be at the Ice Hut Bar and Grill on Third St.

“The Pavilion was a great spot and I’m sure we’ll go back there at some point,” she explains, “but we thought let’s give some business to some of the other local businesses around and kind of get a different crowd.”

There are also a couple spots open for anyone who wants to perform at the Café. Use your imagination. Proulx-Chedore says it’s ideal for the budding magician, ventriloquist or stand-up comic.

“It’s kind of a really good way for them to try and hone whatever skill they’re doing,” she says.  “So if they were a stand-up comedian, they’ll have a nice little intimate audience and it’s kind of a good venue to start off with.”

There’s no charge to entertain or to watch the entertainment. It’s open to all ages. And of course, because it’s a library event, any questions about the library and its services can be answered.
