March is colorectal cancer month in Canada. The Canadian Cancer Society is raising awareness for the disease that is 90-percent curable when caught early. Joanne Bennett, a public health nurse from the Porcupine Health Unit, says the key to catching it early is getting screened.
Bennett says those aged 50-74, or with a family history, are at risk.Â
Or, if you have a relative who has been diagnosed, get screened 10 years earlier than the age at which they were diagnosed, whichever comes first.
