There were record numbers at Cochrane’s Commando Pavilion for the 2019 Remembrance Day observance. Police presence was heavy as numbers approached the legal limit for the facility.

Organizers determined that the vast number of people was causing the indoor temperature to increase beyond tolerance, so the ceremony started 20 minutes early.
Cochrane is one of the few northern communities that lost soldiers in Afghanistan. Consequently, Remembrance Day is a deeply significant event for many.
