Evening of entertainment lined up for Cochrane Community Café

An evening of entertainment is lined up for Wednesday at the Commando Pavilion, as the Cochrane Public Library stages its first “Community Café”.

Program coordinator Ardis Proulx-Chedore says it will start at 6:00pm with some elders speaking, marking Treaties Recognition Week.

“They’re going to be telling a little about the treaties for this area, because we’re Treaty Number Nine territory,” she says.  “And then we have some people telling some stories and it’s going to be just an all-around good time.  And the Scouts are going to be serving up some I heard it’s pumpkin pie, is what I heard.”

No can opener was used in the making of said pies.  They’re made from raw pumpkin.

All the stories, music and poetry build up to a performance by the Country Kickers line dance group.

“They’re going to be wrapping it up and we kind of end on a positive, happy note of some dancing,” Proulix-Chedore mentions,  “and if people want to join in, they can and they’re going to be showcasing what they do because they offer lessons to do that as well at Club Amicale 50-Plus.”

There’s no charge to attend the café.  Refreshments will be available.
